Construction Craft Worker
The Construction Craft Worker is a construction labourer. The CCW apprenticeship is an extremely versatile trade that offers the trainee the capacity to work in a variety of sectors and construction fields. The following describes some of the tasks completed by the Construction Craft Worker apprentice:
- Erects and dismantles concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
- Mixes, pours and spreads materials such as concrete and asphalt
- Removes rubble and other debris and construction sites
- Assists in demolition (including sorts, cleans and piles savaged materials)
- Operates various power tools, machines and other equipment as directed (i.e. mixers, compressors, pumps, pneumatic hammers)
- Available semester 2
LEVEL ONE

Program Credits / Certification:
- Earn 2-3 Cooperative education credits on Principal’s discretion
- Earn 2 dual credits upon successful completion of “Level One”
- Earn a “Level One” apprenticeship training designation as a Construction Craft Worker at LiUNA, Local 183 Training Centre in Vaughan
To Qualify:
- Be at least 16 years of age and in your graduating year
- Have a strong interest in working with Construction Technology or Technological Design
- Be willing to attend classes at LiUNA Local 183 and to travel across the GTA for a Cooperative Education placement
- Have minimum 65% Grade 11 Workplace College or University Mathematics

Program Components Include:
- 8 weeks at the Local 183 Training Centre, 8700 Huntington Road, Vaughan
- 8 weeks at a Cooperative Education placement in the construction industry
- Sponsoring Employer: LiUNA Local 183
- Students will be picked up at Bramalea City Centre and transported via bus to Local 183 in Vaughan
- Offered in semester one and two
- Open to Grade 12 graduating students. This is a four credit co-op program.
The Peel District School Board, The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, & Skills Development (MLITSD) and LiUNA Local 183 offer this opportunity for students who want to pursue careers as Construction Craft Workers.

Please see your Guidance Teacher or Cooperative Education teacher for assistance in completing an application form and the submission of all required documents. 8 spaces (ministry dictated) are available in semester 2. Candidates will contacted and interviewed by PDSB Resource Teacher and a LiUNA, Local 183 representative.
